WRONG!

Jon has right ideas, but he needed to keep his friends close to him and remove those who wouldn't reconcile, as was suggested. they might still have gone after him in the end, but he wouldn't have been defenseless.Raquelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17181855641076360454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9200860591450872337.post-31324443445258472582011-07-09T01:53:26.108+02:002011-07-09T01:53:26.108+02:00Something I thought I'd add here, but it seems...Something I thought I'd add here, but it seems like the Targaryeans had a pretty significant impact on Westeros culture, for even as far a place as the North to have children look up to them like that. I find Jon's admission in later chapters to Daeron I, aka the Conqueror of Dorne, was his idol when he was young rather interesting, as it also mirrors Tyrions own fascination of them and their dragons. That said the new details on the Dornish campaign and the role of Oakenfist in its success was a rather nice tidbit in this chapter.KrimzonStrikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09399041947125766551noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9200860591450872337.post-78277745831673072082011-07-09T00:59:21.902+02:002011-07-09T00:59:21.902+02:00So I really don't think there was much else fo...So I really don't think there was much else for Jon to do quite honestly. He did the best that he could for the Watch in my opinon, he simply was better then they deserved unfortunately.

You can see a lot of parallels here between him and Dany, trying to bring about change to a stagnate society that's naturally resistant. Both of them really should have taken a harder line to silence their opposition (who they were never going to reconcile with), and that's about all I can say on the matter.KrimzonStrikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09399041947125766551noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9200860591450872337.post-18904815195304039342011-07-09T00:27:54.636+02:002011-07-09T00:27:54.636+02:00Proving something is not really a necessity in Wes...Proving something is not really a necessity in Westerosi politics. The experience of joining the wildlings to protect and serve the Watch adds weight to the argument for Jon in this matter as well, I think anyway. And most of all, no one could prove he was actively helping Stannis anyway, even if they did suspect (for which I think they would have done either way, even if he hadn't)KrimzonStrikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08817407714880594953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9200860591450872337.post-43405071154844223752011-07-08T16:18:11.587+02:002011-07-08T16:18:11.587+02:00No questions, but it's against the spirit, if ...No questions, but it's against the spirit, if not the oath, of the Watch nonetheless. Yes, for Jon the situation sucks, but he has no right to draw the Watch into it.Stefan Sassehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03504751435668017553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9200860591450872337.post-27124518342886141432011-07-08T16:14:33.198+02:002011-07-08T16:14:33.198+02:00I think that going back to the first 2nd or 3rd ch...I think that going back to the first 2nd or 3rd chapters Jon already felt that he had been damned for taking sides in the first place by taking Stannis help (totally justified in that no one else would) and for being Ned's bastard who was now Lord Commander, as was his conversation with Sam about his letter to the Lannisters and as what happened in
AFFC when Cersei discussed it with her Small Council. So I don't think what Jon did would have made a difference either way, and it was ultimately better for the NW if Stannis managed to win.KrimzonStrikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08817407714880594953noreply@blogger.com
